INSPIRATION
A snowboarding trip in Canada, specifically the part in Quebec at Mont Saint Anne. Open fires at the end of some of the runs, poutine available in the cafes, it was all very civilised - when we weren't being fuelled and egged on by adrenaline.
BACKSTORY
He clipped onto his snowboard, stood up and surged his weight forward to start the downhill. Gaining speed the icy wind stung his face and whistled past his ears, getting louder by the second... He hit his limit and the adrenaline was surging, verging on losing control, his vision tunnelled but his velocity kept increasing then the deafening sound around him faded out leaving only his heart beat. ... Boom-boom... Boom-boom… The warm crackle of the open fire, the smell of gluhwein, the laughing, and full body exhaustion... Knowing he'll hit it all again tomorrow.
