The TP-Link EAP683 LR is a high-performance WiFi 6 AX6000 ceiling-mounted access point designed for modern businesses that demand reliable, scalable, and secure wireless connectivity. Built for high-density environments, this LR (Long Range) model delivers strong coverage, low latency, and seamless roaming with centralized cloud management. Whether you run a bustling office, a hospitality venue, a university building, or a retail space, the EAP683 LR is engineered to keep dozens or even hundreds of devices simultaneously connected without compromising speed or reliability. It blends enterprise-grade features with a sleek, unobtrusive form factor that fits discreetly into ceilings while delivering premium performance across both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands.

  • WiFi 6 AX6000 performance for busy networks: Experience blazing-fast throughput with up to 4804 Mbps on the 5 GHz band and 1148 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band, delivering a combined theoretical total of 5.81 Gbps. Advanced WiFi 6 technologies such as OFDMA, MU-MIMO, and BSS Coloring coordinate multiple devices efficiently, reducing contention in crowded environments like meeting rooms, training spaces, and guest networks. This means smoother video calls, quicker file transfers, and more responsive devices during peak hours.
  • Long-range ceiling-mount design for expansive coverage: The LR variant is engineered to blanket large open areas and traverse multi-room layouts with fewer dead zones. Its ceiling-mount form factor minimizes visual impact while maximizing signal propagation, helping you cover conference floors, lobbies, classrooms, and open-plan offices with dependable performance even through walls and floors.
  • Centralized cloud management for scalable control: Manage the entire network from a centralized Omada SDN ecosystem—whether you prefer local management or cloud-based control. Simplified, zero-touch provisioning and a single pane of glass enable quick SSID creation, guest access, VLAN segmentation, captive portals, and consistent security policies across every access point in your deployment.
  • Enterprise-grade security and reliability: Built with robust security in mind, the EAP683 LR supports modern encryption and authentication standards, including WPA3. Regular firmware updates, secure boot, and network segmentation help protect your data, guest access, and internal resources while maintaining a reliable wireless backbone for critical operations.
  • Flexible installation with PoE for clean cabling: Power over Ethernet support enables streamlined installation without bulky adapters. The device can be powered through standard PoE (802.3at) from a compatible PoE switch, simplifying deployment, reducing cable clutter, and enabling placement in optimal ceiling locations for maximum coverage. It’s suitable for standalone deployments or as part of a larger Omada network.

How to install TP-Link EAP683 LR

  • Step 1 — Prepare the site: Choose ceiling locations with optimal line-of-sight to maximize coverage, considering wall materials and potential interference. Ensure you have a PoE-enabled switch or injector ready to power the device.

  • Step 2 — Mount the bracket: Use the provided ceiling mounting bracket and screws to secure the EAP683 LR to the ceiling. Verify the bracket is firmly anchored and oriented to optimize antenna performance.

  • Step 3 — Connect power and data: Run an Ethernet cable from your PoE switch to the EAP683 LR’s PoE port. Ensure the switch supports 802.3at (PoE+) to supply sufficient power for stable operation.

  • Step 4 — Adopt and configure: Access the Omada Controller (local or cloud) and adopt the new access point. Create or import your SSIDs, enable guest access if needed, configure security settings (WPA3), and set up VLANs or captive portals according to your network policy.

  • Step 5 — Optimize and monitor: Verify client connectivity across the coverage area, run a quick site survey using the Omada app to identify signal strength, and adjust channel placement and power levels to minimize interference. Keep firmware up to date to ensure peak performance and security.

The hype it did not live up to
Format: Paperback
I guess I expected more. I found it kind of boring and un inspiring. I enjoyed the food twist and even the characters, but it was very underwhelming. and I'm sorry about this review, because I really really wanted to love it.

A thoroughly-researched, thoughtful, and nuanced work about the 1692 Salem withcraft panic.
Format: Paperback
This graphic novel recounts the 1692 Salem (Massachusetts) witchcraft panic that engulfed Salem, Salem Village (now Danvers), and adjacent communities. About two dozen men and women were convicted and hanged, one was pressed to death (tortured) to try to force him to acknowledge the Court’s authority. That man was Giles Corey, aged 80. The book focuses on him, but it covers others among the accused and executed as well as on the judges, politicians, and other involved. (No so much on the accusers and their motives.). The narrative plays out chronologically with interstitial vignettes in which 19th Century literary figures Nathaniel Hawthorne and Henry Wadsworth Longfellow wander around Salem during the 1800s discussing the trials and their legacy. (Hawthorne lived in Salem for a time and was a descendant or the Court of Oyer and Terminer Judge Hathorne.). The work concludes with a chapter, More Wonders of the Invisible World, that follows how Salem developed economically up to the present day in which witchcraft-related Halloween tourism turns Salem town into arguably the least attractive “tourist attraction” on Cape Ann. (Do not skip this chapter, it is engrossing.) An extensive series of endnotes provide scholarly references and background information. The artwork veers back and forth between caricatures (the 17th century events) and realism (19th century and onwards). In both cases the line art is exquisite. The text includes quotes from transcripts of the trials and other contemporary documents as well as fictional dialog. Wickey worked on this book for more than a decade, and it shows in his thorough scholarship. This is, in all seriousness, Pulitzer/Eisner-level work. Wickey was born in Beverly and resides on Cape Ann. Most of us born and raised on the “North Shore” learn about the Salem witchcraft panic in high school -often as a cautionary tale about politics, spectral evidence, and what we would today call “lawfare.” I thought I knew a fair amount about the 1692 panic, but I learned something new with nearly every other page. I was especially glad to see Wickey cover now-debunked ergot-poisoning theory and that he dismissed the vile slander that some among the convicted and executed were actually witches. There’s nothing really “missing” from the book, though one wishes one could learn more about the fates of the accusers other than Ann Putnam. That their motives appear to have been “sport” is bone-chilling fully three centuries later. Read her "apology" years later and try not to think, "psychopath." At 500 plus pages, it's too long to read at one setting, but it is a pleasure to read at shorter intervals.

Masterpiece
Format: Kindle
It has been said that any work of literature should be gauged upon how much the work makes the reader think. Ben Wickey has certainly achieved this - in spades - as one of the “civilised” world’s most frightening episodes is revisited with respect and thoughtfulness on the human condition.
