Wat voor wijn is Cantine Pliniane Juvenis 2022 precies? Het is een volle maar toegankelijke Primitivo di Manduria DOP uit Puglia, gemaakt door een historische coöperatie in Manduria en bedoeld als jonge, gulle rode wijn met veel rijp fruit. Cantine Pliniana werd in 1964 opgericht door lokale druiventelers en werkt nog altijd met een grote groep leden die zich volledig richten op Primitivo, zodat je hier een wijn in je glas krijgt die echt uit het hart van de streek komt. Wijngaarden en regio

De druiven voor Juvenis 2022 komen uit de DOC Primitivo di Manduria in Puglia, in de hak van de Italiaanse laars rond de stad Manduria. De wijngaarden liggen op de vlaktes rondom de stad, op bodems van klei en typisch “terra rossa”, een rode aarde die rijk is aan ijzer, met daaronder een kalkhoudende ondergrond. De stokken staan aangeplant als spalliera, een vorm van geleiding langs draden waardoor de druiven veel zon krijgen en goed kunnen rijpen. De wijngaarden van Cantine Pliniana liggen volledig in dit gebied en zijn vrijwel volledig aan rode rassen gewijd, met Primitivo als absolute hoofdrolspeler. De oogst voor Juvenis vindt plaats in september, wanneer de druiven mooi rijp zijn maar hun frisheid nog behouden.

Vinificatie en rijping

Na binnenkomst in de kelder worden de Primitivo-druiven voor Juvenis eerst streng geselecteerd, zodat alleen gezond en rijp fruit wordt vergist. De vergisting gebeurt in roestvrijstalen tanks bij gecontroleerde temperatuur, een methode die helpt om het rijpe fruitaroma en de kleur zuiver te bewaren. Aansluitend blijft de wijn op tank rijpen, zodat de aroma’s zich kunnen zetten en de structuur rond en harmonieus wordt zonder dat hout de smaak overneemt. Het alcoholpercentage ligt rond 14%, wat goed past bij de rijpe stijl en het volle mondgevoel van deze Primitivo di Manduria.

Druivensamenstelling

Juvenis 2022 is volledig gemaakt van Primitivo di Manduria, dus 100% Primitivo uit het herkomstgebied van Manduria.

Proefnotities en serveertips

In het glas is Juvenis 2022 diep robijnrood met paarse schittering langs de rand. In de neus herken je direct rijp rood en zwart fruit, met tonen die doen denken aan wilde braam, rijpe framboos en andere rijpe fruitsmaken. De smaak is vol en zacht, met veel rijp fruit in het midden, een ronde structuur en een harmonieuze, uitnodigende finale. De tannines zijn aanwezig maar rijp, zodat de wijn soepel blijft drinken en de afdronk warm en gul overkomt. Serveer Juvenis bij voorkeur rond 16 tot 18 °C en schenk hem voor het beste resultaat een uur van tevoren in een karaf. Aan tafel voelt deze Primitivo di Manduria zich vooral thuis bij rood vlees van de grill, lamsgerechten, rijke stoofschotels, wild en stevige, gerijpte kazen.

Fancy enough for a wedding, easy enough for a backyard party

I picked up this 300 Pack Premium Heavy Duty Gold Plastic Silverware set for a recent gathering, and honestly it worked out better than I expected. When you’re hosting a larger group, the last thing you want to worry about is running out of utensils or washing a mountain of dishes afterward, and this set definitely helped with that. First off, the 300-piece set is really convenient. You get 100 forks, 100 spoons, and 100 knives, which made it easy to plan for about 100 guests without having to buy multiple packs. Everything arrived neatly organized in a clear storage box, which actually made it super easy to keep things tidy until party time. The gold metallic finish is surprisingly nice. It gave the table a more polished, elegant look than standard plastic cutlery. Slight odor, more flexible than I expected

These looked like they were going to be heavy duty, but they were more flexible than I expected (see video clip). They probably still will work well, but if you’re poking your fork into something stiff, expect that the fork might bend some. There was a slight chemical odor when I opened the package, and I’m not a fan of that. As someone with MCS, I have to avoid exposure to fragrances and other harmful chemicals, and it makes me wonder what these are coated with. The gold might be cute for the aesthetic you’re going for with a particular gathering or party, but I find it unnecessary. I would rather go with the real heavy duty ones that are clear plastic from a club warehouse rather than these gold ones. I feel that these are overpriced for the quality, but not a bad price if all you’re going for is the gold aesthetic.

I hate to spend a lot of money on something that's just going to be thrown away, so typically buy dollar store disposable silverware for parties and gatherings. But every once in a while, you want something more upscale or high end looking. Enter this pricy but pretty plastic silverware. It is perfect for a wedding, anniversary, shower or other event where you want a nicer look instead of basic. It is sturdy. You won't have to worry about it breaking as someone spears a bite of chicken. It looks great! There's only so much you can do with plastic ware but for what it is, it looks really nice.
